Virtue ethics, which judges actions based mostly on the ethical character of the agent who performs them and whether or not they conform to what an ideally virtuous agent would do. Deontology, which judges actions based mostly on whether or not or not they’re in accordance with one’s moral duty. In the usual type defended by Immanuel Kant, deontology is anxious with whether or not a choice respects the ethical agency of different individuals, no matter its consequences.
